A Different Kind of Poo…

My hair is kind of awesome. I haven’t gone completely poo free, but I only use a dollop about the size of a dime, get my hair as wet as possible, spread shampoo thinly, rub in a tiny bit (there’s no foam), & rinse as quickly & thoroughly as possible, letting my hair get the minimum shampoo possible. Same with conditioner. I use no other product, but I do blow dry with a brush & use a flat iron on the front.

The first thing I noticed was the lack of hair in the shower drain. There is usually a ton of it, so much that I have to use a hair catcher/sieve thingy so I don’t stop up the drain constantly. Now there is only about 1/5th as much hair in that drain after showering. Weird. Were my hair products making my hair fall out or something? Who knows, but the amount of hair was consistent before & has been consistently less for about 3 weeks.

Eventually, I will try the teaspoon of baking soda per cup of filtered water & rinse with half vinegar & half water, but I’m not really up for that right now. My hair is really soft, though, & shiny. At first it was much, much less static-y, but now it might be about the same as before. I think that was just from weaning my hair off of a shit-ton of silicone-based products.

I’m also trying to not use as much soap as I was. I splurged & bought a bar of Neutrogena soap (holy hell, it was $3!!) because it doesn’t contain the nitrates (nitrites?) that other soap does (I’ve decided that the nitrates are what make soap feel slick after rinsing because Neutrogena is not slick after rinsing) & I’ve been trying to use it as sparingly as possible.
